How to Change a Door Lock

If have lost your keys, you may want to change your door lock for safety, security and peace of mind. You can easily replace an existing lock barrel with a new one with new keys, following our simple step-by-step guide.

Step 1

Unscrew Existing Lock

Unscrew Existing Lock

Remove the existing door lock/night latch by unscrewing the retaining screws.

Step 2

Unscrew Barrel

Unscrew Barrel

Unscrew the barrel retaining bolts and pull the barrel from the door. Keep the mounting bolts to use with the new barrel, as they will have already been cut to size.

Step 3

Fit New Lock Barrel

Fit New Lock Barrel

Insert the new barrel, making sure the mounting ring is flush to the door. Secure with the original retaining bolts, and refit the lock body. Then test for smooth action.
