A gap can occur between a skirting board and a wall if the wall is not completely flat, or if the board has warped over time. This can be a nuisance, gathering dust and looking untidy. Fortunately, our step-by-step guide will help you fix it in no time.
It is sometimes possible to pull the skirting board closer to the wall by drilling in some screws. The heads of the screws can then filled in over, sanded and painted to leave an invisible finish.
If there is still a gap then the solution is to fill it with flexible filler, which is not as brittle as a standard filler. Use a caulking gun to apply the filler in a narrow bead above and behind the gap.
With a spoon, lollypop stick or similar, smooth the bead flush with the top of the skirting board.
